College Planning Guide
Carolyn Z. Lawrence Educational Consultant
Please note: I am not accepting new students at the present time.
Many families find that they need additional or more personalized assistance with college and financial aid planning beyond what's available at their high school.
Perhaps their child has a unique admissions profile, or special needs in the college search process.
Or, the family feels that the student would benefit from working one-on-one with a college admissions expert.
Sometimes, a family just feels overwhelmed by the college application process, and wants a knowledgeable guide for the journey.
I'm here to help.
With a sympathetic ear and a focus on the individual student, I offer students and parents:
When to get started: I start working with most students in their junior year of high school, although some families find it helpful to meet in freshman or sophomore year for advice on high school course selection and other pre-college planning issues. As I try to keep the number of students I work with small, I rarely have space available for high school seniors. Therefore, if you'd like to work together, please plan to contact me no later than March of the student's junior year.
I also assist college students seeking to transfer to a new college. Transfer students should plan to contact me as early as possible in order to meet mid-semester transfer application deadlines.
Although I'm based in East San Diego County, California, I use web-based technologies to serve students across the country and around the world. Students enjoy being able to meet with a college counselor from the comfort of their own home, and this also allows me to help students who otherwise would not have access to private counseling. I custom-tailor my services to each student's individual needs. Because of this, my services are priced per hour; I do not use package-pricing. For more information about my services and fees, and to discuss how I can help, please contact me.
